In 1772, Haydn composed six groundbreaking String Quartets, Opus 20, that revolutionized the traditional forms. Their structure served as a model for composers far into the future.
Franz Schubert's String Quintet is an incredible journey into the richness of human emotions. In the slow movement, there is a moment where the subtle shift from minor to major harmonies can make one feel as though transcending into heavenly spheres.
The Carducci Quartet is one of the most successful string quartets in the UK. The ensemble has won numerous international competitions, incl. the Kuhmo Chamber Music Competition in 2004. The quartet's extensive repertoire spans from traditional string quartets to contemporary and film music.
Cellist Marko Ylönen has played various roles throughout his career: as a soloist many orchestras, chamber musician, artistic director at festivals, and a teacher. He has also achieved success in numerous competitions and recorded a significant amount of cello repertoire.
