A festival of 15 high-quality classical music concerts with Finnish and foreign top musicians, and interdisciplinary events with Finnish authors ja composers.

The theme for the summer of 2024 is "The Magic of Emotions," reflected in the program with intimate love letters (Janáček's String Quartet No. 2 ‘Intime Briefe’) and longing for homeland (Dvořák's String Quartet No. 12 'American'). "In addition to the festival, chamber music masterclasses are also organized.

The Lauttasaari Music Festival is primarily built around music that is central for the string quartet. Four internationally acclaimed quartets– the British Carducci, Czech Wihan, and Finnish Meta4 and Uusi Helsinki Quartets – perform music from four centuries. The repertoire includes the latest compositions from Finland as well as timeless pieces by Beethoven, Schubert, and Dvořák. As an exception to the main theme, French music performed by soprano Helena Juntunen and contemporary Japanese music will also be featured.

In addition to the concerts, the Lauttasaari Music Festival offers other four free events "Meetings Between Authors and Composers" at the Maijansali hall in the Central Library Oodi. With the increasing role of artificial intelligence, the significance of human creativity is emphasized, and the festival aims to explore this through interdisciplinary discussions. These events will bring together favorite authors Kjell Westö, Sirpa Kähkönen, Elina Hirvonen, and Minna Lindgren with composers Aulis Sallinen, Sebastian Fagerlund, Cecilia Damström, and Mari Sainio.
