Dear Helsinkians,

 Since 2019, the Think Sustainably service, has been helping locals and visitors to choose more sustainable ways of living in Helsinki and enjoying the city. Together along with local businesses and service providers, we've been promoting more sustainable practices in a mission to help the City reach its 2030 carbon-neutral goal. We cannot thank you enough for your enthusiasm, feedback and hard work. It is this shared sense of responsibility that is day-by-day, helping to build an even more sustainable future for Helsinkians.

 This is why it's with heavy hearts, that we're announcing the end of the Think Sustainably Service in its current form, a decision we have made in response to the EU's incoming Green Claims Directive legislation. Despite the Think Sustainably Service having strict and extensive criteria, we have decided that we are not able to continue the service under the legislation's new requirements, if we are to maintain our values as a responsible city. This means the following:  

Applications for the service will no-longer be taken from 1st December 2024.
The Think Sustainably Service will no-longer be visible on MyHelsinki.fi after January 2025.

We are still discussing the future of the service and the criteria with the City and we will endaevour to update this article with further information on the service as soon as it is available.

Despite this news, Helsinki's sustainability mission continues regardless. We have just been named the most sustainable city in the world for 2024 after all (according to the GDS index), thanks to the continued hard work, dedication and passion of those working for the City of Helsinki.
