Exploring Sound
Now the gaze – or rather our ears – turns to observe sound art!
Now the gaze – or rather our ears – turns to observe sound art!
Sound art, or sound in general, what is it? Where do you find it? What could it be? We focus on listening, making sounds, figuring out whose voice gets to be heard, turning the sound into visible and what you can see into sound, separating the sound from the silence.
The exhibition showcases works by sound artists or artists that work with sound. Participants in the exhibition are artists Laura Aalto-Setälä and Daniel Landau, Jaakko Autio and Hilla Väyrynen, Ana Gutieszca, Outimaija Hakala, Jukka Kääriäinen, Juho Rahikka and Antti Tolvi.
Exploring Sound continues in the footsteps of Exploring the Weird, an exhibition from 2022, focusing on different forms of contemporary art. The works for the exhibition were selected through an open call by student groups at Annantalo. The exhibition is organized in cooperation with Art Association MUU.
During the exhibition, matinee events aimed at families will be held at the MUU Contemporary Art Centre at the Cable Factory. A more detailed programme will be released during the autumn.
The opening of the exhibition is on Friday, 27 September. Come and listen!
The exhibition serves as a thematic opening and inspiration for an exhibition in spring 2025, where student works will be exhibited together with the works of professional artists.
