Walk through the Malminkartano eras

Learn more about the places and hoods in Helsinki outside your familiar haunts! The walking tour is guided in Finnish.

Come and explore the city district of Malminkartano in great company.The university’s research farm operated in the area of the old Malminkartano military office for decades, but in the 1980s it moved away to make room for a new city district planned according to new ambitious ideals. Malminkartano is now being reformed, and it is time to look into the layered history of the city district, the values of which are slowly becoming visible.

The free-of-charge tour will last about an hour and a half. The walking tour has been developed together with WalkHelsinki, the Sports Services and Kanneltalo, and it is part of the Places & Hoods – See Helsinki Anew exhibition, showcased on the fourth floor of the City Museum until 15 September 2024.
