Vivaldi: Ottone in Villa

Bulevardi 27, 00180 Helsinki
Aleksanterin teatteri

The first opera by a great baroque composer and the first complete opera performance in Finland.

The first opera by a great baroque composer and the first complete opera performance in Finland.

The plot of the story is relatively straightforward: Cleonilla is loved by the gullible Roman Emperor Ottone and Caio, but Cleonilla is in love with Ostilio, who is actually Tullia, Caio's abandoned lover dressed as a man. The fifth character is Decio, the emperor's advisor, who spends all his time giving good advice to Ottone, which he ignores. After a series of typical misunderstandings and horrors, Tullio reveals herself, Ottone orders repentant Caio to marry, and the ambiguous Cleonilla apparently continues to seduce Ottone. The events have been transposed to Donald Trump's second term in the White House.
