Via Crucis - The Way of the Cross 2024

On Easter Saturday, Via Crucis will be performed at Senate Square, directed by Markku Arokanto for the second time.

This year, the stage of the play, will be the steps of Senate Square and surrounding buildings such as the Cathedral. 

The theme of the Via Crucis is "from light to darkness, from darkness to light". 

The performance is based on the medieval European tradition of the Via Crucis, whose most important values ​​have been community spirit throughout the years. 

The music is composed by Pekka Simojoki, also Antti Vuori, who is responsible for the music arrangement and sound design, has composed a song for the performance.

The role of Jesus is played by Panu Haavisto for the second time, and there is a large group of professionals, amateur actors, choir members and assistants being involved.
