Time Travel to Sortavala

The exhibition ‘Time Trip to Sortavala’ takes the visitor to Sortavala in Karelia, which was ceded to the Soviet Union as a result of the wars in 1944.

What were the town and its surroundings like as part of Finland? Through photographs and postcards from the early 20th century, we get to explore Sortavala’s fine architecture, the magnificent landscapes of Ladoga and the lives of its inhabitants. The exhibition also includes an installation of evacuee objects lent by private individuals as well as archival material.
