The Touch of a Woman reaches out to the productions of composers Cécile Chaminade, Lili Boulanger, Johanna Müller-Hermann, and Mathilde Kralik.

The concert includes musical works, whose text is pronounced in the rhythm of the work in a certain way stylized – this is called melodeclamation. Together with melodrama, it was immensely popular as an art form at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.

The listeners are taken to the composers’ stories also with reading extracts from their diaries and letters. Career and private life challenges unfold touchingly and deeply in the dialogue between words and music. Among the stories is Lili Boulanger, who died of lung disease at the age of only 24. In 2023 it will be exactly 130 years since her birth.
