14.30 | Django Collective Helsinki
Founded in 2011, Django Collective Helsinki is an acoustic swing ensemble whose core members are all seasoned professional musicians. Led by Aki Hauru, the ensemble has been a real tonic for the Finnish cultural scene for more than a decade, their earthy feel-good gypsy swing calling back to the style of 1920s-1950s Django Reinhardt and Stéphane Grappelli. In addition, the group performs original compositions where tradition is mixed with a more recent jazz expression in a fresh and innovative way. As well as steadily building their public profile, the ensemble has been determined to make a contribution towards a more positive urban live music culture.
