Samae Koskinen released his ninth solo album, ‘Mä näin unta että kaikki meni hyvin’, in April. His lyrics this time are significantly more political compared to the previous focus on everyday beauty.
Samae Koskinen describes his new music thus:
“In the autumn of 2023, my cup just ran over. The far-right connections in government, the misogyny-steeped behaviour of athletes, the abhorrent lack of online etiquette, and this overall uncaring atmosphere got me to think about what I do, and why. I had made an effort to not make my art overtly political and put everything about my personal values between the lines. One reason for that was fear, another was my desire to be a people-pleaser.
Then, I started thinking about the people I look up to: Bad Religion, Rage Against the Machine and Bob Dylan had truly made me think about my choices and my values. How I face the world, what is power, and what that does to a person. I decided that I should write songs about what I think. To comment about the cold, uncaring attitudes, injustice and hatred.”
The concert is part of the Meidän Uusimaa concert series supported by the Finnish Cultural Foundation’s Uusimaa Regional Fund.
