Saimaa, led by Matti Mikkola, is a special kind of band that, driven by constant buzz and hubbub, strives for an endless euphoria of musicianship.

The collective's adventure in music is liberating, grandiose and wonderfully unlimited. Through the platinum albums with Pepe Willberg and Pyhimys as soloists, Ylen Sports’ score and their critically acclaimed cover album, the band has created a controlled supervortex of prog, classic rock, funky show music and classical, which rings with the longing of old Finnish hits.

Saimaa, drawing shameless inspiration from the sounds and aesthetics of the 1960s and 1970s, is at its most grandiose live, when its top musicians immerse themselves in an enchanting ensemble and jam, dominated by an abundant telepathic force. The primary composers of the band, Matti Mikkola and Eppu Kosonen, are masters of the Finnish music scene, who have made hits for JVG, Vesa-Matti Loiri, Paula Vesala, Kaija Koo, Juha Tapio and Lauri Tähkä.
