Ride plays Nowhere & Going Blank Again

British alternative music legend and pioneer of shoegaze and Britpop, Ride comes to Huvila for a rare gig to perform the albums Nowhere and Going Blank Again in their entirety. The band’s first two albums, Nowhere (1990) and Going Blank Again (1992), are widely considered the most important albums in the shoegaze genre. Alongside My Bloody Valentine and Slowdive, the impact of Ride’s albums on contemporary music is massive. 

The evening begins with Finnish instrumental band Tinyhawk & Bizzarro, who released their debut album Nekorok in September 2023. The band is an indie rock group formed around the compositions of Jenni Kinnunen, who played guitar for Rosita Luu. Helsingin Sanomat critic Ilkka Mattila gave Tinyhawk & Bizzarro’s debyt album five stars and praised it as “a breath of fresh air that blows the dust off of Finnish electric guitar music that has been stored away in the attic for safekeeping”.
