When Pikku Papun Orkesteri gets together with the UMO Helsinki Jazz Orchestra, you get the biggest children’s concert of the autumn for the whole family at Kulttuuritalo!
Pikku Papu’s immensely popular hits will be heard in familiar but new versions, arranged for a big band. With over 20 members in the orchestra, there’s plenty to see and listen to: melodious and shiny trumpets, trombones and saxophones, with rhythmic piano, bass, guitar and drums. The arrangements are made by Mikko Hassinen, who also conducts the concert.
Pikku Papu’s lyricist and illustrator Liisa Kallio is on stage with the musicians at the concert. She illustrates the concert and brings the stories and characters of the songs to life by drawing, painting and crafting captivating images live on the big screen. In the concert, the music, words and visual arts merge into a whole, where the audience can, in addition to singing and playing, also see in real time how the song is transformed into a picture.
During the concert, even the little ones can join in the songs and fun. Screams of joy and dancing are allowed – even desirable!
