Unwanted Cowboy by Mikko Heino is a collection of acrylic paintings depicting desert landscapes and objects with a comic-like appearance. However, something seems to be missing, and yet, a presence of that thing or someone is there. Framed on canvas, the paintings stand as stages for empty scenes that leave you curious about what has occurred or what is yet to happen.

Life is unpredictable and full of uncertainties. People don’t always know what will happen or why something happened the way it did. Truth and reality are independent of each other, living their own lives. It’s an uncertain desert, the Wild West of chance and opportunity, where an anvil can drop from the sky anytime.

Mikko Heino is a Finnish visual artist living and working in Berlin, Germany. With a background in graphic design and inspired by comics, cartoons, skateboarding and popular culture, his bold and simplified work explores cartoony spaces and objects with an adult mindset. Seemingly happy and colourful paintings and pieces with a darker undertone.
