Glassification.hu – Masters of Glass from Hungary

The Glassification.hu exhibition presents the works of ten internationally renowned Hungarian glass artists.

This touring exhibition, initiated by the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Trade and Foreign Affairs, was first presented in Hungary this year and has since been part of the official programmes of the Venice Glass Weeks in September and the International Glass Biennale in Sofia in October.

Ten artists from four different generations have created large abstract works for the Glassification.hu project. The exhibitors represent the diversity of techniques characteristic of Hungarian contemporary glass art. The twenty museum-worthy works of art are among the world's best in terms of both aesthetic value and technical qualities. They are inspired by both old and new techniques of Hungarian glassmakers, often unique in the world.

The artists in the exhibition are Endre Gaál, László Lukácsi, Márta Edőcs, Anita Darabos, Péter Borkovics, Kyra László, Kristóf Bihari, Balázs Sipos, Eszter Bősze and Amala Varga Gyöngyvér.

The title of the travelling exhibition is based on the rarely used English noun glassification, which means to turn into glass. The name fits well with the theme of the exhibition: the transformation of creative thought into glass.
