Saxophonist Timo Lassy and trumpeter Jukka Eskola join forces with the new "Nordic Stew" album and live project.

Saxophonist Timo Lassy and trumpeter Jukka Eskola join forces with the new "Nordic Stew" album and live project. Lassy and Eskola have collaborated since the 1990s. The most significant joint composition was "The Five Corners Quintet", which was the most internationally successful domestic jazz group and the trendsetter of the new Finnish jazz generation of the 21st century. Since then, both of them have created their own solo careers and released several albums of their own.

In 2022, the friends finally got to realize their long-time dream and traveled to New Orleans to record a joint album with top local musicians. "Nordic Stew" was born, a mix of Lassy and Eskola's musical experiences combined with a great love for the birthplaces of jazz. One of the inspirations for making the album is also the story of the ship Andania, which brought jazz music to Finland in the 1920s, brought with it by Finnish-American musicians. Now 100 years later, Lassy and Eskola have taken it back to its birthplace and updated their own version of it.
