Jyrki Sinisalo: Sculptural Light
Light and shadow are Jyrki Sinisalo’s way of perceiving the world. Light creates an aesthetic footprint.

Sinisalo’s exhibition Veistoksellinen valo (“Sculptural Light”) consists of several works framed in boxes. Each box is like a miniature theatre. The works are inspired by life and all the works are mainly composed of recycled materials. Although the works are personal, Sinisalo hopes that each viewer will make their own interpretation of the whole.
Jyrki Sinisalo has had a career of almost 40 years in light. In recent years, his work has been exhibited at the Lux Helsinki at Galleria Topelius in 2022 and at Laterna Magica in 2023, among other venues. He has also participated in several group exhibitions. Sinisalo has designed lights for numerous puppet and spoken theatre performances, most recently Christina Ouzounidis’ HETEROFIILI by Valtimonteatteri in Helsinki in 2023.
The exhibition takes part in the Lux Helsinki galleries light festival 3.-7.1., during which the gallery is from 16-22, afterwards it will be open in regular opening hours.
