Jussi Hellsten is an award-winning photographer and director, who spent around two weeks volunteering for Abilis documenting the lives of persons with disabilities in Abilis’ programme countries Ethiopia and Mozambique.

The exhibition presents the hopes and dreams of persons with disabilities in the Global South.

”This photography exhibition is about them, not about me.”

”The status of persons with disabilities in the Global South is extremely challenging. Many have faced discrimination, negligence or violence. For persons with disabilities it can be hard or even impossible to get information on their own rights from the state actors.”
