Cantores Minores has become famous as a performer of Bach's great works of church music. This traditional boys' choir brings the concert audience to listen to the St. Matthew Passion and the St. John Passion every year on Good Friday, which are undeniably among the richest treasures of classical music of all time.
This spring's Silent Week is the turn of the St. Matthew Passion, which the Cantores Minores will perform in the traditional way with the Finnish Baroque Orchestra on Good Friday. In this extraordinary musical drama, multi-layered symbolism, vocal and instrumental timbres, and skillful musical narration combine into a powerful expression of the Easter suffering drama. In the first part of the passion, the Cantores Minores Training Group Choir, coached by Anna Hurme and Timo Pihkanen, also sings.
