Isto Rahkila & Teemu Ruissalo — gifts

Sound art exhibition.

Sound art exhibition.

“gifts” is a week-long series of instances that sprout from a shared view on sound, performance, and documentation. The straightforward idea is to play score-based material assigned to each of the artists every other day. The material — left-overs, if you will — is then installed in the space in various congenial forms of in situ documentation.

Both artists work with paper, audio, spoken instances, and photos + video to amass the exhibition space by the end of the week. Most of the material used to carry on these acts, are also left out in the space with no clear foundation or specific gallery tradition. The ephemeral courtesies are also variable, given their time of perpetration and interaction with different mundane substances, enhancing the art’s anachronistic spirit.

As a detached detail, is a text written by Rasmus Östling covering the artists work in a more or less deceptive manner.
