Impivaara is a new short film by the IC-98 artist group, formed by Patrik Söderlund and Visa Suonpää.

The film brings Aleksis Kivi’s classic novel Seitsemän veljestä (The Seven Brothers; 1870) up to date, linking it to the discussion on the environmental crisis of the 2020s, the energetic basis of culture, and the coexistence of species.

The film’s scenic sequences, depicting vast wilds and wide open skies, refer to national visual-art narratives and thus also to the iconic landscape works in the collections of the Finnish National Gallery.
