Photographer Mia Surakka's nature photo exhibition “Hiding Black Woodpecker” is on display at the Natural History Museum's PopUp loft.

“I have chosen the pictures in such a way that they highlight the typical species behavior and personality of each depicted bird species. By using natural light in different ways, I can bring out contours, colours or the softness of feathers. You can find in my photos e.g. hiding black woodpecker, angry eagle, fighting black grouses and the master of the forest, capercaillie.” 

Mia Surakka 

Mia Surakka is a professional photographer and nature photographer specializing in bird photography. He works full-time as a photographer, currently focusing on nature photography. Mia's main photography subjects are birds, but she describes nature in a variety of ways, including mammals and landscapes. When photographing nature, it is particularly important for Mia to act without disturbing nature's animals, and that is why she photographs a lot from various hidden booths.
