From Sketch to Screen – the exhibition of the Budapest Metropolitan University and Artificial Intelligence and Visual Identity – panel discussion (in English)

The exhibition of the Budapest Metropolitan University From Sketch to Screen offers its visitors the opportunity to explore the visual ideas and messages of the young generation of animation artists. The five animated films on display showcase the students’ diverse technical skills and artistic expression. In addition to the animated films, visitors can learn about the university’s collaboration with the largest cultural programme in Hungary of the year, the European Capital of Culture – Veszprém-Balaton 2023, to which students contributed with graphic design, design and theoretical projects as class assignments.

The exhibition will be opened on Friday, September 8th with the panel discussion on artificial intelligence and visual identity with the participation of Melinda Kiss, Head of the Institute of Animation and Media Design (Budapest Metropolitan University); Can Togay, Chief Creative and Artistic Advisor of the European Capital of Culture – VEB2023 project, and Teemu Roos, Professor of Computer Science (University of Helsinki). The discussion will be moderated by Helga Kovács-Sárközi, Director of the Liszt Institute in Helsinki.

The spread of digital solutions has brought about decisive changes in the lives of designers, and fundamentally changed the ways of visual storytelling. Colours, graphic style and dynamics all have the power to carry a message and are of undeniable importance in the visual identity of an event and in animated films.
