Hämärinkäinen
A family puppet show celebrating kindness and magic.
A family puppet show celebrating kindness and magic.
Hämärinkäinen is a small character who weaves the dusk for the midwinter celebration on its loom. It works together with other mysterious winter creatures.
People are very busy with their own party preparations, especially florist Keikander. Keikander does not like the onset of darkness, because then the flowers will not bloom fast enough. He decides to capture the Hämärinkäinen. But what would happen to nature and the city of people if Hämärinkäinen could not weave its twilight? And how does the little flower weaver Flora complete her biggest work?
The performance encourages the audience to slow down and forget about the hurry. Eventually, different creatures, animals and people learn to respect each other. They prepare a midwinter festival together.
The makers of the performance are performing arts professionals and creators of many of the most prestigious works of recent years. The performance is particularly suitable for children aged around 4 to 9 and for anyone who longs for the enchantment of fairy tales and the wonders of winter. It is non-religious and refreshingly different from typical Christmas imagery.
Hämärinkäinen is a Christmas performance for everyone, regardless of religion - the work creates its own mythology, which is equally new and open to everyone.
