Handicraft Encounter in the Feels Like Home exhibition: wool
16.00-19.00, 3rd floor
Materials can evoke memories, atmospheres, and people. What memories does wool awaken in you?
In the Handicraft encounter, we explore the versatile and warm material, wool. What is the texture of freshly sheared sheep’s wool? How does washed and carded wool feel? How is yarn made? You can try spinning yarn with a spindle and learn the basics in 25 minutes.
The Handicraft Encounter is guided by Ilta Hämäri. Ilta, known as the spinning wheel whisperer in spinning circles, is a folklorist specializing in handicrafts.
