Final scenes of disaster movies
The free outdoor theatre presents three final scenes of an imaginary disaster movie.
We may all be saved. Or maybe we will plunge into unimaginable destruction. Helsinki Festival’s opening work projects these feelings on a large LED screen on Kansalaistori. The free outdoor theatre presents three final scenes of an imaginary disaster movie.
The work is created by the duo Tellervo Kalleinen and Oliver Kochta-Kalleinen, who are celebrating their 20th anniversary as artists and are known for their inclusive film projects. The ideas for the final scenes were selected using an open call, as were the actors. The artists describe the project as “fear meets light collective play”. In the outdoor theatre, they also meet the music of Cleaning Women, performed live by the praised group.
The films are set in Kansalaistori, where they are also screened. Whether we are saved or destroyed, these disasters are experienced together.
