For decades, the premises of the old military office building in Malminkartano served as a test farm for the university, which, in the 1980s, gave way to the bold, new ideas of the newly planned district.
Now that Malminkartano is being renovated, it is time to take a look at the layered history of the district, whose values are slowly beginning to emerge.
The walk has been carried out in cooperation between WalkHelsinki, sports services, the Helsinki City Museum and Kanneltalo, and it is related to the Mestat ja huudit – See Helsinki Differently exhibition, which is on display from 9 May to 15 September 2024 in the main building of the Helsinki City Museum at Aleksanterinkatu 16.
