An art work in Suomenlinna Sea Fortress Rifle Gallery; ÄIJÄ dance performance.

An art work in Suomenlinna Sea Fortress Rifle Gallery; ÄIJÄ dance performance that takes place in the evenings and "Äijä's Museum" exhibition that is open during the day. Äijä takes one away from the urban environment to a unique, historical place to experience art.

"I never did a sitting wee.” Äijä discusses the power structures between feminine and masculine energy, mirroring the contradictions between old gender roles and today's ways of thinking. What can a person be in our polarizing time?

The various phenomena occurring in our time force us to be aware of privileges and power structures. It is not wrong to separate people according to characteristics, because we understand each other through differences. Difference however becomes difficult, when it involves a power system that ranks differences in order of value.

NOTE! Rifle Gallery is not an accessible space. It's recommended to dress warmly to the performance.
Äijä's museum -exhibition in Rifle Gallery open 14-26.8. Mon-Sat 12-16pm (free entrance) and 30 min. after the performance.
