Virpi Talvitie has illustrated books for children, young people, adults and the elderly.

She often uses a mixed technique with layers of oil pastel and watercolour. Besides colour, the pictures have many other layers as the illustrator wants to create beautiful images while simultaneously building a story, emotions and moods.

Coinciding with the exhibition in November, Kanneltalo presents a debut performance of the Keinulauta – leikkipuisto-ooppera ystävyydestä musical based on Timo Parvela’s and Talvitie’s books Keinulauta (The Seesaw), Karuselli (The Merry-Go-Round) and Onnenpyörä (The Wheel of Fortune).
