Routa Company: MUR – A show about the wind, forests, and friendship

Annankatu 30, 00100 Helsinki
Annantalo Arts Centre

MUR is about a baby bear, Mur, who doesn't always feel like a bear.

MUR is about a baby bear, Mur, who doesn't always feel like a bear.

In this Routa Company show, Mur encounters a logging clearing and the Other – a bear that is almost like Mur himself, of the same size and equally curious. But the forest has changed, and a new wind is blowing.

The MUR show deals with the current state of the forests at a childish level. The forest is the home of the animals, but what happens if the forest no longer exists? The story and dance merge into a seamless package that makes both small and big viewers stop and think. There is a whole forest to think about.

MUR is based on the Mur book series by author Kaisa Happonen and illustrator Anne Vasko, and especially its latest instalment, Mur and the Wind. The Mur series of children’s books has enchanted readers abroad, the first part of the book series has already been translated into more than 20 languages. You can explore the world of Mur the Bear in Anne Vasko's book illustration exhibition at the Annantalo café.

“This is not a forest, but we are still bears. The forest should be where we are.”
