NoCore: Encaged – Performative exhibition
Performative and intermedia exhibition for liberating our identities from social norms.
Performative and intermedia exhibition for liberating our identities from social norms.
NoCore: Encaged is a social impacting project that gives the opportunity, to participants and viewers, to acknowledge the sides that are hidden inside us and let them free. Dance is used as an expressive language to recall all the social patterns that tighten us. But also, it gives the possibility to break those patterns and to engage in a personal development outside the norms, rules and constrictions.
NoCore is a community dance project that deals with topics of gender roles and multiculturalism and it gathers people who want to share thoughts about being marginalized for sexual and cultural diversity.
Within 6 weeks of exhibition we will organize one-to-one workshops for people who are interested in creating a dance solo (3–5 min long) based on their own thoughts and stories: a “ritual” that could liberate sides that have been trapped inside them.
The solos will be filmed and collected in a looped Video Wall. The multitude of dances will be able to raise up the intensity of this community “ritual”.
The participant will be guided in searching keywords and fragments of their own stories that tell what they have been restraining inside. Those words will be recorded and used in creating an instant soundtrack for their dances.
