Film history expert, PhD Harri Kilpi will introduce the film of the evening at 5-5:45 pm. The lecture is in Finnish. After the introduction, the free screening of the film begins at 6 pm. The autumn 2024 Kino Kuutamo film series explores family dynamics.

Oscar winner Joaquin Phoenix's first lead role since the acclaimed Joker (2019) is C’mon C’mon, a sensitive growth story. Phoenix plays a reporter who unexpectedly ends up taking care of his nephew Jesse (Woody Norman) when his sister (Gaby Hoffmann, from Girls) has to travel far to take care of family business. Johnny has no choice but to learn to care for a child on his own for the first time. Jesse is quite a handful: very talkative and incredibly perceptive. But like any 9-year-old, he is still balancing between childhood and youth.

When Johnny has to go on a business trip to finish his radio show, but Jesse's mother's trip is delayed, the boy travels with him. During their journey together, Johnny will come to grips with responsibility, love, and perhaps most of all, thing about himself that he has pushed away for too long. Written and directed by Mike Mills (including Women of the Century, Beginners and Thumbsucker), C'mon C'mon is a warm and moving story about the relationship between children and adults. The film is a production of one of the most interesting indie studios of recent years, A24 (e.g. Moonlight, Lady Bird).

“A radio host, portrayed by Joaquin Phoenix, takes custody of his nephew in an excellent drama.“ ★★★★ Pertti Avola / HS
