The young protagonists, Ida, Minka, Otto, Ville and Otso want to save Finland's forests. They are facing the forest industry and the national ideology of forests as the foundation of financial wellbeing. Are they heroes or traitors in defending the lichens and endangered willow tits?

Suutari’s humane story about the forests takes its viewers on an enchanting trip through nature, from the shade of the ancient conifers to the top of Aalistunturi, from the paper industry’s cabinets to the sofa of Ida’s grandfather Tauno, a former forest worker. Suutari, who’s acclaimed for her depictions of Finland and Finnishness (incl. Aalto, Garden Lovers), has created a film that makes you face the beauty and distress of our diminishing forests.

The expert guest is the director, Virpi Suutari.
