Johanna Iivanainen & Johanna Kurkela – Altamullan Road

Kasarmikatu 46-48, 00130 Helsinki
Savoy Theatre

Johanna Iivanainen and Johanna Kurkela’s Altamullan Road tour will finally be happening this winter. The artists, who have made impressive careers in Finnish music, will embark on an extensive concert hall tour to perform their compellingly emotional and earthy cinematic pop. Tickets for the tour go on sale on Friday, 13 October at the ticket outlets in the concert venues.

Iivanainen and Kurkela, who have both built careers on their own, have already performed together before. During their more than decade-long friendship, the artists have, for example, toured Finland on the successful “Iivanainen-Kurkela Gemini” tour in 2018. The idea of a joint line-up had been maturing since 2013, but it was not until the Altamullan Road project that the duo started writing songs together. The result is music that perfectly brings stories to life through the voices of the artists.

“Our voices have been playing together since 2009. Our debut album, released in 2020, was a big dream come true. This tour is our first step into a new changed world. Our superpower is simplicity. A heart-to-heart connection. Our concert programme will be a unique down-to-earth touch on the world of the songs we have made together and the covers we love,” the two Johannas say.

The duo’s debut album was released in 2020 and features singles such as “When It’s Time” and “Underwater”, the intensity and beauty of which was complemented by an impressive animated video by Tommi Rahko. Due to the circumstances, we have had to wait a while for the Altamullan Road tour to materialise, but we will finally be able to dive into the dreamlike musical world as of January.
