2024 is an important milestone in the Finnish narrative of Chicago Blues. It has been 110 years since the birth of Eddie Boyd (US), a blues legend who moved to Helsinki in the early 70s and continued to live here until his death three decades prior, in 1994.

2024 is an important milestone in the Finnish narrative of Chicago Blues. It has been 110 years since the birth of Eddie Boyd (US), a blues legend who moved to Helsinki in the early 70s and continued to live here until his death three decades prior, in 1994.

His historic album, Brotherhood, released by Finnish Blues Society under its own FBS label in 1975, has also reached a respectable age of half a century.

To pay tribute to the passing of time, as well as to a particularly significant role model, Pepe Ahlqvist, a senior statesman of Finnish Blues, has returned to the studio together with keyboard legend Jukka Gustavson and an ensemble of top Finnish musicians. The Bluelight Records album, featuring music from Eddie Boyd's repertoire, will be released in connection with a festive concert at Malmitalo on 16 November.

The event is organised by Finnish Blues Society ry
