Laura Pyrrö, is a Finnish cultural field multi-tasker: opera and concert singer, cultural producer, teacher, lecturer, opera translator and cultural journalist.

Hailing from the production of Espan lava for already two seasons, we get to hear what makes a project attractive to a producer but also how music professionals navigate through the different characters that they need to have in today’s society as music professionals.

Laura Pyrrö finished her Master's degree at the Sibelius Academy opera class with all of her singing examinations rated excellent. Year 2002 Laura won the acknowledged Timo Mustakallio Singing Competition and has sung as a soloist at the Finnish National Opera and Savonlinna Opera Festival, among numerous other venues.

Besides Finland, Pyrrö has performed widely accross Europe plus the United States, India and Thailand. She has worked in many artist residencies, like Villa Lante in Rome and Villa Karo in Benin, West Africa. After working as a freelance artist and producer for more than 20 years Laura accepted a hiring as the cultural producer of the renowned Espa Stage in the heart of Helsinki. Her first commitment at Espa took place in 2023, and she continued her work throughout the season 2024. At the Espa Stage her work includes planning, selecting and scheduling approximately 300 events per season: everything from various music genres to dance, circus, panel discussions and children’s program.

Helsinki Open Waves radio, Caisa and the Global Music Department of Sibelius Academy present HOW radio: Global Club Nights, a radio discussion series focusing on the music industry in Finland from the perspective on intercultural collaboration.

The discussions take into consideration both the part of the musician and the business side, focusing on diversity in a neutral, safe space.

The language of discussion is English.
