The Poem of Love and the Sea by Ernest Chausson is every bit as lusciously romantic as its title suggests.

The Poem of Love and the Sea by Ernest Chausson is every bit as lusciously romantic as its title suggests.

Hector Berlioz, in calling his work a Fantastic Symphony, no doubt intended it as a description of his own dreams and terrors.

He further equipped it with the subtitle “Episodes in the Life of an Artist”, and in doing so was naturally alluding to himself.
