CANCELLED Bastien und Bastienne – A singspiel by W.A. Mozart
A hidden tragedy in a children's singspiel.
A hidden tragedy in a children's singspiel.
Shepherdess Bastienne is devastated when the love of her life, Bastien, leaves her and goes to live in the big city. However, magician Colas arrives and rescues their relationship with reason and magic. But what do you think the therapist, observing the events behind the piano, has to say about all this? Is the relationship really healthy in the end and is Colas as innocent as we might think?
Mozart composed this adorable little singspiel at the age of 12, parodying pastoral music in a skillful manner. The libretto is heavily based on Jean-Jacques Rousseau's parody of the opera.
The performance is sung in German, but the spoken dialogue is in Finnish.
