The interviewer is author and journalist Esa Mäkijärvi.
Kale Puonti (b. 1962) worked for the Helsinki Police as a narcotics and organised crime investigator for more than 30 years. He has seen the landing of international drug crime in Finland and was involved in many high-profile cases. Kale Puonti has become a reader favourite with his convincingly realistic Pasilan Myrkky detective series, the fifth part of which, Fadi, received the Finnish Detective Novel Association's Lead of the Year award in 2023. The sixth part of Pasilan Myrkky, Joni, was released in early 2024. TV and film rights have been sold for the first four books of the series.
Puonti is also known for his non-fiction books, such as Kokaiinikeilapallo and other drug cop cases, as well as Satu – Alamaailman rautarouva, which has been translated into Swedish, Danish and Norwegian. In addition, Puonti is familiar to viewers as a standard face of MTV3's Rikospaikka programme and to listeners as a podcaster. Immun ja Kalen rötöskatsaus has already found 300,000 listens, and there are already three seasons of the popular Ammattina rikos podcast.
