Lonna
Lonna is a charming cute little island situated between Helsinki's bustling Market Square and the Suomenlinna Fortress Island. Lonna is part of the Suomenlinna neighborhood and it's a place where ships were protected against naval mines in days gone by. Today this historical island serves as a recreational island open to public, just a ten-minute water bus ride from the Market Square. On the island you'll find Lonna's popular restaurant with its covered terrace and bar. Inside the old stone walls you'll find the renovated Mine Storehouses, available for banquets. At Lonna's public sauna you can experience the calm and almost sacred feeling of traditional Finnish sauna. The museum, telling the history of the island, is next to the restaurant and open according to the restaurant opening hours.
FRS Finland waterbuses operate to Lonna from May to the end of September, from the Market Square.
